CARSON JOHNSON
Carson Johnson studied Art and Design at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. She has a vast background in photography, painting, drawing and graphic design, and utilizes all of these media throughout her artistic process. During her time at CellSpace, Carson developed a series of surrealist illustrations that take the viewer through a web of fantasy, spun with inklings of contraptions, sex, creatures and elementary particles. Her work is concerned with concepts of femininity and the connection between humans, machines and nature. Most of her illustrations are depicted on wood, and she creatively utilizes the woodgrain as an integral part of the piece. Now that her residency is complete, Carson will go on to display her work in other galleries in the greater Bay Area. Keep an eye out for this up and coming artist!
