Art Studios

Program Mission: The mission of the Studio Cluster at CELLspace is to provide affordable workspace for emerging artists in the Bay Area. We currently house eight art studios that range from 60-300 square feet.

History: The first vision for CELLspace was to create a series of private studios to encourage artistic collaboration. The studios have provided thirty percent of CELLspace rent, and a constant source of income which has kept CELLspace alive. The many artists who have used CELLspace studios have contributed huge amounts of time, creativity and skill to make CELLspace happen. The presence of the Studios has helped CELLspace keep its vision as an art space.

Current Projects: CELLspace studios are occupied by a diverse collection of artists who create poetry, make music, paint their visions with oils, capture the world with photography, pour cement into unexpected molds, break glass and put it back together again, and give found objects new meaning. The studio cluster takes part in open studios and from time to time will mount their own exhibitions in the Crucible Gallery.
