Marta Solomianko
Marta Solomianko was born in 1989 in Warsaw, Poland and raised on Long Island. Her Polish heritage and experience growing up in the suburbs of Long Island serve as the basis for her current work. In her work, Solomianko considers the individual parts and people that make up the masses. Using projections, she manipulates images of American suburbs, Solidarity protests, and May Day parades out of their original context and onto the flat surface of her canvas or paper. The resulting paintings and drawings, whether hand painted, drawn, or stamped with her fingerprint, convey a new abstract mass.
