10 May: Urban Planning Exhibition

Urban Planning is a solo exhibition by multimedia artist Lauren Smith incorporating painting, drawing, installation and sculpture. The show conceptually explores the imagery and function of gutters and their downspout counterparts within a gallery setting. The exhibition offers a dueling dialogue between the natural and urban landscapes. In most cases there is an intentional reference to water and its destructive capabilities. However, the extreme calm and order seen in the works communicates a certain level of control over or complacency towards the threats of water.
Smith is a visiting artist in residence from Mount Laurel, New Jersey. This exhibition displays the work she has produced since moving to San Francisco in January just four short months ago. Learn more by visiting her website at http://laurensmithstudio.com

Paz de la Calzada's Charcoal Work in Main Space

Over the past few weeks, Paz de la Calzada has pulled out her pieces of charcoal and added strands to the green wall in the Main Space. This is a continuation of her similarly-themed work in other locations around San Francisco.
CELL is happy to house part of her oeuvre, as well as have a piece of art created on one of our interior walls.
Please stop by SpaceCraft this Thursday, April 5 (7 to 11) to meet Paz and see other amazing art in the CELL Garllery.

27 Jan.: UZERONET
SMS Presents: UZERONET at CELLspace
January 27th, 2012
Performance + Art Show: 8-11 PM (SMS AudioVisual Show)
Afterparty: 11 PM-2 AM (Full Bar, DJs in theater space)
http://subtopside.tumblr.com
Subterranean Mountaintop Seaside (SMS), the DJ/VJ art duo, come together for their first headlining show in San Francisco to present UZERONET, an exploratory art performance combining elements of DJing (skratching, mixing, cutting) with audio-reactive visuals. This event will also function as an art show with both analog and digital pieces on display.
UZERONET focuses on interactions between the systems that exist within the organic and inorganic. The artists utilize their respective crafts to carve a unique niche for themselves, forcing the digital to function as a reflector of the analog.
UZERONET will be followed by an after party in the CELLspace concert venue, with a full bar, and DJs spinning until 2 AM.
