We here at Cellspace are helping to dispel the idea that San
Francisco shuts down and moves to Nevada at the end of August.

This weekend on Saturday there are two events coming up, one in
the afternoon (right after the Zumba fitness class), and one at
night:

   ---===O===---

Saturday August 29th, Noon-4pm
"CLOTHING SWAP & MODIFY"

A benefit for CELLspace

Clear out your clutter! Feng Shui your closets! Bring a bag of clothes to
swap with other discerning hipsters-or modify your existing clothes at our
silkscreen station or bleach stencil station. Make custom 1" button pins
using our selection of random magazines and graphics. Cut stuff up and
stitch it back together like Dr. Frankenstein!

Amp up on coffee and cookies and let your imagination loose in a huge,
bright beautiful workspace with inspiration from other crafty style-makers.
There's a lot of natural light and big mirrors to encourage the strutting of
your stuff

All this fun for just $5 admission if you bring a bag of clothes to swap!

Cellspace is at 2050 Bryant between 18th and 19th streets in the creative
capital of San Francisco, THE MISSION!

Ride a bike or take transit: 27 Bryant or 22 Bus, or a leisurely walk up
from 16th street BART

Call Raven at 415-410-7597 for more details or to RSVP or volunteer, or to
offer to bring some cookies

Come on out! It's co-ed (but with dressing areas for the non-exhibitionists)
and of course, the more the merrier, so bring a friend and lots of clothes!

Saturday, September 5th, 8pm
The Moe!Kestra! (plus Sun Ra tribute)

Imagine a man playing an orchestra as though it were a percussion
instrument, and you might get some idea of the Moe!Kestra!:
a massive ensemble of superb musicians conducted by the frenetic
percussionist and intense performer Moe Staiano (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum,
Inkboat) using a little bit of sheet music and a hell of a lot
of body english. The Moe!Kestra! achieves an overwhelming sound
that dances between the worlds of rock, industrial and avant
classical music.

At Cellspace on Saturday, September 5th, they will be performing
a piece celebrating the new era of hope (which we are hopefully
still living in): "The End of An Error". The piece employs a
massive string section, four percussionists, and a section of
guitars with special multiple strings of the same string played
with implements.

Plus: a tribute to the Sun Ra Arkestra, in which "The Voice of
Doom" (KZSU, Cellspace) will be spinning some of their more rhythmic
and vocal-oriented work.

Saturday, September 5th,
Doors: 8pm Moe!Kestra!: 9:30pm
Full bar.

RIDE AGAIN
A benefit for Cellspace and the Florida St. Mural Project

$10 to $20 sliding scale
21+ (beer and wine for sale)
8pm to 10pm happy hour: Buy 1 drink, get 1 free

CELLspace needs a bit of velo-loving, so all are invited to stop by
for a night of bikes, beer, and bands. Since 1996, the CELL has
supported the arts as well as alternative transportation. For RIDE
TOO!, we would like to also welcome back our old neighbors, the Bike
Kitchen, to their new shop back on Florida Street. Proceeds from this
event will go to cover rent for CELLspace as well as help fund the new
Mural Project on 633 Florida St. (which will include a Bike Kitchen
mural).
